On March 6, the giant vessel M.V. COSCO SHIPPING LILY moored quietly on the Yangtze River banks. With her bow adorned in red ribbons, the last vessel of COSCO SHIPPING Lines’ first series of 16,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ships was officially named and unveiled.

Since the naming of COSCO SHIPPING YANGPU, the first vessel in the series, on February 18, 2025, the subsequent vessels—COSCO SHIPPING CARNATION and COSCO SHIPPING PANAMA—have been delivered and commissioned over the past year. They are currently serving the Far East-USWC and Far East-USEC routes, with stable operational performance and an excellent green reputation.
With the completion and naming of COSCO SHIPPING LILY, all four giant vessels in the series have now been delivered to fulfill their respective missions. The vessel measures 366 meters in length,51 meters in molded breadth, carrying a capacity of 16,136 TEU.It can reduce carbon emissions by approximately 8.9% compared with traditional fuel-powered vessels. It is also equipped with an intelligent central control system, enabling intelligent management of the entire ship operation process. The vessel adopts the world’s first set of domestically produced WinGD methanol dual-fuel main engines, together with methanol dual-fuel generators and marine dual-fuel boilers. The methanol tanks are arranged in a "triangular layout” to optimize space utilization. The intelligent ship control system further enhances the level of intelligent operation. Compared to traditional fuel-powered counterparts, each vessel is capable of reducing annual CO₂ emissions by approximately 120,000 tons, with an Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) better than the baseline by more than 50%.
M.V. COSCO SHIPPING LILY is scheduled to be deployed on the South China–USWC e-commerce express service (SEA Line), injecting strong momentum into the green transformation of COSCO SHIPPING’s fleet.
