On March 24, the 2026 Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference was held in Boao, Hainan Province.

2002

The first Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference was held in Boao.

2003

The BFA International Convention Center was inaugurated.

2008

The permanent site of the Boao Forum for Asia was rated as a National 4A-level Tourist Attraction.

2015

COSCO SHIPPING invested 850 million yuan to construct the Phase II project of the permanent venue for the Boao Forum for Asia and the Press Center.

2016

The Press Center and Dongyu Island Hotel were put into operation; “Hainan COSCO Boao Co., Ltd.” was renamed as “COSCO SHIPPING Boao Co., Ltd.”

2017

The BFA International Convention Center and the Phase II project of the permanent venue were awarded the 2016-2017 “Lu Ban Award” for China’s National Quality Project.

2020

The Boao Dongyu Island Cultural Park project was completed.

2022

Actively participated in promoting the high-quality construction of the Boao Near-Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone.

2024

The “Boao Near-Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone” officially commenced operation.

2025

Comprehensively and systematically reduced carbon emissions in the demonstration zone by 3.8%. In March, the “Boao Near-Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone” was officially renamed as the “Boao Zero-Carbon Demonstration Zone”.

2026

The 25th Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference was held, and COSCO SHIPPING has become the Forum’s honorary strategic partner.
