COSCO SHIPPING Delivers Core Equipment for Cambodia’s First LNG Power Plant

2026-05-09

On May 9, MV DAYUXIA, operated by COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers, smoothly set sail from Port Zhangjiagang after loading the first batch of core equipment for Cambodia’s Koh Kong 2×450MW gas turbine project. As Cambodia’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant, the project has a total installed capacity of 900MW. Upon completion, its annual power generation will account for a quarter of Cambodia’s total, significantly enhancing the stability of power supply and driving the local lower-carbon energy transition.

The first batch of core components shipped totals over 8,000 cubic meters, comprising 12 oversized items. Among them, the two main transformers each weigh 305 tons, placing exceptionally high requirements on vessel compatibility, lifting operations, and transport safety. To address this, the COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers team proactively formulated a comprehensive technical plan and coordinated various resources to ensure the smooth completion of the loading operations.

Furthermore, this project marks the first implemented initiative since SINOMACH and COSCO SHIPPING signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in January of this year. Under the agreement, the two sides will fully leverage their respective advantageous resources to deepen cooperation in areas such as shipping, logistics, digitalization, ship and offshore engineering equipment construction, new energy, and overseas markets, achieving mutually beneficial development.
