COSCO SHIPPING Port of Piraeus Hosts First Compliance Forum

2026-06-18

Recently, COSCO SHIPPING Piraeus Port Authority S.A. (PPA) held its inaugural “Compliance Forum” in Greece, themed “Compliance Alliance — Moving Forward Together.”

This marks the first large-scale, cross-industry professional exchange event in Greece’s critical infrastructure sector to focus on core topics such as compliance governance, risk management, data protection, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. Over 120 delegates from local universities, law firms, enterprises, and other institutions attended the forum.

Closely aligned with the implementation requirements of the EU Directive on the Resilience of Critical Entities and the Greek Law on the Implementation of the EU “Directive on the Resilience of Critical Entities” and Other Relevant Provisions, the forum featured discussions on topics including corporate governance, ESG practices, data protection, AI governance, cybersecurity, business ethics, and risk resilience development.

Qu Shengbin, Vice President of PPA, delivered the welcome remarks. Experts including Zefi Nikolaou, Chair of the Association of Compliance Officers in Greece and Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Athens, and Spyros Tsantinis, Professor at the Law School of the University of Thrace, were invited to speak. Representatives from enterprises such as Athens International Airport, Hellenic Water Company, PCT, COSCO SHIPPING (Greece), Antipollution, Roche, and Metlen Energy and Metals participated in the exchanges, sharing experiences in compliance management and organizational resilience building.

Through formats such as keynotes, fireside chats, and panel discussions, the forum deliberated on three main themes: “Compliance as the Compass for Corporate Operations,” “AI, Cybersecurity, and Compliance,” and “From Compliance to Value Creation.” Participating parties reached a consensus on directions including strengthening proactive risk anticipation, enhancing proactive crisis management capabilities, deepening strategic synergy and continuous training, and driving the translation of regulatory requirements into institutional standards and business practices.

This forum aimed to share Piraeus Port’s practices in compliance management, risk prevention and control, and data protection with Greece’s critical infrastructure ecosystem, promoting the development of a local compliance governance network. Meanwhile, it also represents a concrete practice for PPA’s compliance system development to expand from internal management to value creation and ecosystem empowerment, which helps enhance the enterprise’s compliance image and industry influence in the EU market.

As a key overseas project of COSCO SHIPPING, PPA is extending its role from a compliance executor to a compliance ecosystem builder and industry rule advocate. By establishing a professional exchange platform, it strengthens cooperation and coordination with local regulatory authorities, industry associations, and enterprises.
