Recently, with the end-to-end operational support of COSCO SHIPPING Logistics & Supply Chain Management, HP’s electronic products completed the inaugural cross-border intermodal trial run across China, Laos, and Thailand via the “Lancang-Mekong Express” on the China-Laos Railway.

Departing from production bases in Southern China, these high-value electronic products arrived in Thailand through an efficient and secure cross-border transportation process. This initiative achieved the phased goal of “a successful first shipment and full route connection”, laying a solid foundation for subsequent regular international logistics services.
Centered on the “Kunming-Vientiane” section of the China-Laos Railway, this transportation solution integrates the complementary advantages of road transport to innovatively construct a full-chain door-to-door service system featuring “one-time commission and single-document fulfillment”. After being consolidated in Southern China, the goods were transported by road to Kunming Wangjiaying Station, where they were transferred to the “Lancang-Mekong Express” rail service for direct delivery to Vientiane, Laos, and then completed the last-mile delivery via the road network in Thailand. The entire journey operated stably with seamless connections, forming a closed-loop cross-border intermodal transport across China, Laos, and Thailand.
Compared with traditional ocean shipping, transportation efficiency of this route has increased by more than 70%. Meanwhile, the “one container to destination” solution significantly reduced cargo transshipment links, keeping the cargo damage rate below 0.1%. It fully meets the comprehensive requirements of high-end electronic products regarding transportation safety, cost control, and on-time delivery, providing a replicable systematic solution for the cross-border transport of similar high-precision goods.
This trial run has received positive feedback and high recognition from HP, validating COSCO SHIPPING Logistics & Supply Chain Management’s comprehensive service capabilities in cross-border project operations and end-to-end logistics organization. On this basis, both parties have officially entered into a cooperation and shipment agreement.
