On the afternoon of June 11, the North China Regional Headquarters of COSCO SHIPPING and the“International Shipping Technology Center” of the Tianjin COSCOPlaza Complex were officially inaugurated in Tianjin.

In a separate event, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry and Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone signed a framework cooperation agreement for large-scale marine engineering repair, construction, and modification projects.The ceremony was attended by Mr. ZHANG Gong, Mayor of Tianjin;  Mr. WAN Min, Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING; and Mr. ZHU Bixin, President of COSCO SHIPPING. Executive Vice President of COSCO SHIPPING Mr. ZHANG Yong andVice Mayor of Tianjin Mr. WANG Xiufeng unveiled the plaque for the North China Regional Headquarters of COSCO SHIPPING and the “International Shipping Technology Center” of the Tianjin COSCO Plaza Complex. Mr. LIANG Yanfeng, Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry, and Mr. YIN Xiaofeng, Director of Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone Management Committee, signed the investment cooperation framework agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

At the unveiling ceremony, Mr. ZHU Bixin stated that the North China Regional Headquarters of COSCO SHIPPING covers the regions of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei prov., the central and western parts of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and will radiate to areas such as Shanxi and Henan prov. COSCO SHIPPING will utilize its North China Regional Headquarters as a strategic platform to further leverage the group’s comprehensive advantages in shipping, ports, logistics as well as its strong industry influence. It will strengthen regional resource synergy, deepen cooperation between realtive entities, effectively reduce logistics costs within the region, and empower regional economic growth.

The establishment of the “International Shipping Technology Center” marks a new phase in COSCO SHIPPING’s efforts to promote the integration of port-industry-city development.

The “International Shipping Technology Center” is a business complex formed by the first and second phases of the Tianjin COSCO Plaza, along with its supporting hotel facilities. It is expected to be fully completed by 2028. Upon completion, the center will serve as a smart engine to support the upgrading of Tianjin’s shipping industry and extend its influence across the  Economic Cluster in North China. The center will focus on the synergistic development of “shipping + technology,” attracting the aggregation of high-end industries such as shipping finance, maritime law, ship trading, and technological innovation, thereby forming a strong magnetic field for the industrial chain. With a core focus on technological empowerment and the integration of industry and urban development, the center will also provide strong impetus for the high-quality development of Tianjin city.

The COSCO SHIPPING Large Vessel Offshore Engineering Repair and Construction Base project holds significant practical importance for enhancing the service level of the Northern China International Shipping Center and supporting Tianjin in its efforts to “build a world-class smart and green port.”

The project is located within the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone and is planned to have a layout of “three docks and seven berths,” primarily for the repair and modification of large vessels and marine engineering projects. In the future, it will also carry out marine engineering assembly and green ship construction based on market demand. Upon completion, the base will be able to support high-quality regional economic growth and promote the formation of a new pattern of all-round opening-up for the region.
