As the premier global arena for maritime excellence, Nor-Shipping 2025 was held at NOVA Spektrum in Oslo, Norway from June 2nd to 6th. COSCO SHIPPING exhibited under the theme “Revitalizing the Future of Maritime Industry”, showcasing a range of innovative technologies and solutions. COSCO SHIPPING was also participated in the 2nd China-Norway Green Cooperation Seminar and delivered a speech at the China-Norway Green Shipping Industry Cooperation Forum.

Deepening Green Transformation and Embracing a Sustainable Future

On the afternoon of June 4, the second China-Norway Green Cooperation Seminar was successfully convened under the theme “Sailing Together to a Greener Future” in Oslo. Mr. Zhang Yong, Executive Vice President of COSCO SHIPPING, participated in the Seminar and delivered a keynote address.

In his speech, Mr. Zhang highlighted COSCO SHIPPING’s focus on the “dual tracks” of digital intelligence and green, low-carbon development, emphasizing the company’s commitment to building a world-class shipping technology company. He referenced the adoption of medium-term emission reduction measures by the IMO at the MEPC83 conference on April 7 and stated that achieving the latest “net-zero framework” requirements necessitates revitalizing existing resources, expanding incremental ones, improving quality, and enhancing efficiency. He further identified responsible investment targeting emission reduction goals as the core and key element.

COSCO SHIPPING expressed its willingness to collaborate with the Norwegian business community on several fronts: guiding green standards and regulations (Regulation), jointly innovating green technologies (Innovation), establishing green energy supply chains (Supply Chain), empowering artificial intelligence and digitalization (Intelligence), providing financial support for green transformation (New Finance), and fostering cooperation in green transformation governance (Governance). This collaborative effort aims to elevate the level of cooperation within the green shipping industry, a concept encapsulated by the “RISING” framework.

The seminar attracted representatives from numerous enterprises, and industry associations in both China and Norway. Approximately thirty Chinese entities joined forces with around thirty Norwegian counterparts in in-depth discussions regarding the green transformation and decarbonization pathways for the maritime and marine industries, as well as the practices underpinning the China-Norway sustainable partnership.

COSCO SHIPPING Highlights Innovation and Green Technology at Nor-Shipping

Nor-Shipping was initiated in 1965 and renowned as “the premier global arena for maritime excellence”, which is held every two years. COSCO SHIPPING utilized this arena to showcase its technological advancements, presenting a 120-square-meter exhibition area at NOVA Spektrum. Its affiliates COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry, COSCO SHIPPING Qingdao and Jotun COSCO joined the exhibition, highlighting innovations in intelligent shipbuilding, sustainable production processes, intelligent support services, and offshore engineering solutions.

Key features of COSCO SHIPPING’s exhibition included the design for a 24,000 TEU methanol-powered container ship, an LNG dual-fuel Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC), an intelligent three-dimensional warehouse, the hold cleaning robot, and Vessel Value Visualization.

The self-developed hold cleaning robot, making its international professional exhibition debut, utilizes advanced sensors and automated control technology for unmanned cargo hold cleaning, significantly improving efficiency while reducing labor intensity and safety risks compared to traditional methods.

Jotun COSCO presented its Hull Skating Solutions, an innovative hull maintenance system. Employing underwater robots for active cleaning, the technology enhances hull performance, reduces fuel consumption and carbon emissions, aiding shipowners in achieving ESG goals and supporting a more sustainable maritime industry.

During the exhibition, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry held a signing ceremony with its strategic client, KNOT, formalizing the classification for the N1340 project shuttle tanker.
