On August 1 local time, as the first batch of 279 vehicles was successfully loaded onto the vessel M.V. MIN JIANG KOU at the Peruvian port of Chancay, COSCO SHIPPING officially launched the port’s international automotive transshipment service. As the maiden voyage of the “Tianjin Port-Chancay Port” international ro-ro shipping route, the operation also marks establishing a new and premium logistics corridor for automakers from China’s Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region to access South American markets.

M.V. MIN JIANG KOU from COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers docked at Chancay Port in the early hours of July 31. Utilizing the port’s intelligent dispatch system, all 279 vehicles were efficiently loaded before undergoing professional lashing and securing procedures for transshipping to multiple destinations along South America’s western coast.

Located at the heart of South America’s Pacific coastline in Peru’s Lima Region, Chancay Port is a key regional hub and the vital gateway to the Pacific for Latin America. Through close collaboration between its vehicle carrier fleet and Chancay Port, COSCO SHIPPING has developed a high-efficiency logistics network serving key markets on the western coast of South America, including Peru, Chile, Ecuador, and Colombia. Through strategic partnerships with local logistics providers, COSCO SHIPPING has established a door-to-door logistics service solution, offering customers more cost-effective and efficient trade channel options.

Looking ahead, Chancay Port will accelerate its smart port transformation through digital upgrades, and implement cutting-edge technologies including digital cranes and intelligent cargo systems to become a benchmark modern port in the South Pacific region, providing critical infrastructure for enhanced cooperation between China and Latin American countries in building industrial capacity.
