“Team COSCO SHIPPING” Makes its Appearance in Paris Ahead of
the Olympics Opening

Date:2024-07-28 Read times: font size:[ L M S ]

On the riverbanks of the Seine, flowing through the heart of the city, a series of temporary Olympic venues stand at the ready.

These famous landmarks, captured on postcards, witness how they have transformed into spectacular sporting arenas.

With construction ongoing, the Olympic Metro Line 16 unfolds. But where do the “excavation experts” come from?

Unveiling the stories beyond the limelight, “Team COSCO SHIPPING” is set to disclose the secrets.

This Paris Olympics breaks from the traditions of the past, presenting a vision where “sport is woven into the urban tapestry.”

The Olympic venues meld seamlessly with the city’s skyline.

In May of this year, COSCO SHIPPING joined forces with domestic cultural industry clients to launch a multimedia exhibition construction project for the Games. This initiative provided comprehensive logistics and transportation services, which included the handling of five iconic venues such as the Eiffel Tower Stadium and Champ de Mars Arena. Just a month after the project’s initiation, COSCO SHIPPING had successfully collected goods from various locations across China, a total of 103 pallets of audio and video equipment were gathered and meticulously packed within a Shanghai warehouse. They were then shipped through COSCO SHIPPING’s vast global network, arriving at the Port of Le Havre in France in early July. Throughout this period, a dedicated COSCO SHIPPING team meticulously analyzed all aspects of the supply chain and made relevant logistics plans in advance to ensure that the entire operation was error-proof.

Currently, all facilities and equipment at the various venues are in place and prepared for the upcoming events. A global audience will have the opportunity to witness thrilling competitions beneath some of Paris’ most iconic landmarks. At the Eiffel Tower Stadium, beach volleyball and blind football matches will be showcased, while the Champ de Mars Arena will host judo and wrestling competitions.

Recently, as you strolled through the streets of Paris, you might have encountered a striking sight:

the eye-catching “China Red” convoy of trucks. On the morning of July 16, local time in France, the China Central Radio and Television 8K HD OB vehicles, transported by COSCO SHIPPING, arrived at the Stade de France, where it completed handover procedures with the Olympic Broadcasting Company. The convoy will be a prominent feature at the Paris Olympics, particularly for the athletics competitions and the 8K international public signal production for the closing ceremony.

For the first time in Summer Olympic history, 8K ultra-high-definition public signal production will be provided. These two “China Red” OB trucks embarked on a journey aboard the ship “COSCO SHIPPING ARIES” on May 31, setting sail from Ningbo. After navigating the treacherous waters for over 30 days, including a detour around the Cape of Good Hope and traversing much of the world, they arrived at the largest port in Europe – the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands on July 5. From there, COSCO SHIPPING Europe coordinated the use of a tow truck to bring the OB trucks overland to Paris, France.

The Paris Metro, one of the most reliable mode of transportation in Paris, is currently undergoing expansion. On Line 16, shield machines exported from China are playing a starring role, becoming the “number one hero” of the entire line.

The export of these two giants is also a point of pride for COSCO SHIPPING. In January 2020, COSCO SHIPPING bade “farewell” at Taicang Terminal in Jiangsu Province to a colossal “friend” of nearly 8,000 cubic meters. With a diameter of 9.86 meters, it was the EPB shield machine - “China Railway No. 777”. It was the first time that a China-made shield machine had been exported to a developed European country.

Two months later, at the same terminal in Jiangsu, the “China Railway No. 778” shield machine,

which was to serve the construction of Line 16, was prepared for shipment. COSCO SHIPPING completed this project by facilitating the relay transportation for the second shipping segment.

As more cooperation projects between China and France have been successfully implemented, COSCO SHIPPING is emerging as a pivotal bridge between the two countries as one of the most dependable logistics options.

May 8

The ship M.V. YONG AN discharged approximately 30,000 m2 of equipment from the fourth shipment of the France LRO wind power project at the Port of Antwerp.

April 18

COSCO SHIPPING Logistics and Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. successfully transported 679 kg of exhibition items from the Shanghai Library to the exhibition site at the Palais Brongniart

on the banks of the Seine in Paris, utilizing “door-to-door” customized logistics service.
