On the morning of September 20, COSCO SHIPPING Lines celebrated the successful naming of its sixth Latin American extreme-large vessel, “COSCO SHIPPING CHILE,” at the third pier of COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry in Yangzhou.

Boasting a total length of 335.9 meters and a beam of 51 meters, the ship has a total capacity of 14,100 TEUs, including 2,100 refrigerated plugs. It stands as the largest new generation Latin American extreme-large container ship currently serving South America. The upgraded shipping space, particularly the increased cold container capacity, ensures better guarantees for the import and export of fresh goods. Integrating the most advanced technical concepts and maritime expertise, the vessel features state-of-the-art design, low-carbon environmental protection, and energy efficiency. Its speed, fuel consumption, and other performance metrics have reached world-class levels. Additionally, “COSCO SHIPPING CHILE” is equipped with the world’s largest capacity permanent magnet shaft generator system, 100% fresh air conditioning, and an enthalpy wheel energy recovery system. The main engine utilizes direct atmospheric intake to help reduce energy consumption. These advanced technologies collectively contribute to a reduction in total carbon emissions by approximately 5.9%.

The COSCO SHIPPING Lines South America series comprises a total of six vessels: COSCO SHIPPING BRAZIL COSCO SHIPPING URUGUAY, COSCO SHIPPING ARGENTINA, COSCO SHIPPING PERU, COSCO SHIPPING MEXICO, and COSCO SHIPPING CHILE.
