In New Zealand, the “paradise” in the southern hemisphere, it should have been the best time for local people to enjoy the holiday sunshine in January, but the once-in-a-century mega flood totally disrupted their travel arrangements. Continuous heavy rainfalls triggered massive flooding in Auckland, the largest city of the country, where a state of emergency was declared. The customers of COSCO SHIPPING Lines New Zealand in the disaster area were also affected to different degrees.
In the face of the disaster, the company launched the relief campaign “Let's Act Now”, mobilizing all its employees to raise funds for the hardest-hit areas. The funds collected were fully transferred to the New Zealand Red Cross - Natural Disaster Fund. At the same time, it cooperated with local customers and suppliers to transport relief materials to the Hawke Bay area, and introduced more preferential policies of free container use for customers that were more seriously affected by the disaster.
