On December 19, Guangzhou Futures Exchange (GFEX) issued a notice on matters related to the transaction of industrial silicon futures, listing COSCO SHIPPING Logistics among the first batch of ordered transaction warehouses for industrial silicon at GFEX.

Industrial silicon is the first listed variety of futures since the establishment of GFEX. The transaction business is deemed as the first cooperation between COSCO SHIPPING Logistics and GFEX, which will fill the gap of COSCO SHIPPING Logistics in the field of transaction warehouse for “silicon energy” futures, an emerging green energy metal futures variety, laying a solid foundation for both parties to carry out further cooperation and jointly serve the national new energy industry, support the green transformation of industries in China, and achieve the strategic goal of emission peaking.

Previously, the project team took the initiative to visit and communicate with the GFEX and, on the basis of a full investigation into the warehouse resources within the corporate system, constantly improved the preparation of application materials and internal review, and continuously followed up the application progress of transaction warehouse qualification. With its outstanding enterprise credentials and reputation and warehouse resources, COSCO SHIPPING Logistics passed several rounds of evaluation by the GFEX and officially became the transaction warehouse of industrial silicon futures. Launching on June 1, 2023, it will provide customers with services including the registration and cancellation of industrial silicon futures warehouse receipts, management of spot good stock-in and stock-out and inventory maintenance, cargo distribution and transit, intermodal transportation, and extended logistics.

Looking ahead, COSCO SHIPPING Logistics will accelerate the allocation of warehousing resources and acquisition of futures-related qualifications, build a comprehensive logistics service system for futures transaction, continue to focus on product-oriented empowerment and integrated operation, and effectively connect the warehouses and logistics service with the shipping resources, providing high-quality integrated supply chain logistics services for industrial customers.
