On September 12, the 15th China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit opened in Nanning, Guangxi Province. Mr. Han Zheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. Xu, Vice Premier Han Zheng visited Guangxi Qinzhou International Container Terminal Co., Ltd. in the Qinzhou bonded port area to inspect the southbound passage construction.
During the inspection, Han stressed that the southbound passage construction will open up a new north-south passage to the sea in the west while reducing the burden on the Yangtze River shipping and protecting the ecological environment of the Yangtze River. Endowed with a favorable location and good water depth conditions, the Beibu Gulf Port will have a promising future if it is properly built and managed, and oriented to the international market. He called for efforts to plan the railway network, develop sea-rail intermodal transport and well connect ports in the northern port area to create synergies.
Guangxi Qinzhou International Container Terminal Co., Ltd. was jointly established by China Shipping Terminal Development Co., Ltd. affiliated to COSCO SHIPPING Ports and Qinzhou Port (Group) Co., Ltd. in June 2011.
